T. Avery (“T. A.”) Walton received his B.S. Degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Arkansas in 1981. After 15 months in industry he returned to the U of A and completed an M. S. Degree in Chemical Engineering in December 1983. He continued his studies at Clemson University in 1984. As an undergraduate student T. A. served as the Tau Beta Pi Pledge Trainer and as the AIChE Vice President. As a graduate student T. A. studied as an NSF Graduate Fellow, DuPont National Graduate Fellow, and at Clemson he was an RC Edwards Graduate Fellow.
T. A. came to UA after a 27-year professional career which included experience with DuPont Clinical Systems, W.R. Grace Cryovac Division Meat Bag Research and Development, and a 23 year career with Procter & Gamble Manufacturing Company. T.A.’s expertise areas include R&D, Manufacturing Operations, Human Resources Management and Sales/Customer Development. He retired from P&G in 2008, joining the University shortly thereafter.
T. A. is a member of the UA Chemical Engineering Academy. He is a member of the Chancellor’s Council on Diversity and of the U of A Black Alumni Association Board of Directors. He and his wife Vivian sponsor Freshman book scholarships for children of U of A system Black Alumni. He actively recruits for UA, partnering with the College of Engineering, Graduate Recruiting Office and Honors College in efforts to identify high-potential students in the Arkansas Delta Area.
