Biographical Information

Jose K. Abraham joined the Electrical Engineering Department at the University of Arkansas in 2005, where he presently holds the rank of Associate Professor and Assistant Director of HiDEC. He joined at Pennsylvania State University as a Research Associate in 1997 and become Member of the Graduate Faculty and Assistant Professor in 2000, Associate Professor in 2004. His research interests include wireless sensors for biomedical applications, MEMS devices for medical applications, RF MEMS, miniature antennas, biomedical materials and microwave material characterization. Dr. Abraham developed MEMS IDT gyroscope and many micro-sensors for liquid identification and ice detection. Dr. Abraham received his Ph.D. in Microwave Electronics from Cochin University, India in 1990. In 1990 he joined as a Faculty at Cochin University and developed many Antennas and Radar absorber coatings. His paper on Microwave non-destructive testing won best paper award in 1989. He has 2 US patents and more than 150 journal/proceedings publications. He also published a book (RF MEMS and their applications: Wiley 2002). He holds memberships in IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society, IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society and IEEE Senior member.
